Making Waves at Miami Swim Week: Art LOVES Earth x Surfrider Foundation
During Miami Swim Week, Art LOVES Earth teamed up with the Surfrider Foundation to launch Models Against Bottles, a powerful campaign combining fashion and activism to tackle plastic pollution and raise awareness for ocean conservation. Through a series of inspiring events and creative collaborations, the campaign spotlighted Swim Week’s top models while delivering an urgent message: it’s time to “Rise Above Plastics.”

Beach Cleanup Kickoff
The three-day activation began with a beach cleanup on Miami Beach, led by Surfrider Foundation and Art LOVES Earth. Locals, volunteers, and influencers gathered to clean the coastline and collect trash before the Swim Week festivities kicked off. The cleanup underscored the immediate need to protect Miami’s iconic beaches and oceans from plastic waste.

A Film With a Message
On the second evening, Art LOVES Earth hosted a private screening of their short film “Flash Forward” at the Plymouth Hotel. The film followed a group of young artists and influencers united in using their creative platforms to inspire environmental change. Guests enjoyed a lively cocktail reception before sitting down for a dinner at Blue Ribbon Sushi, where conversations about sustainability and activism took center stage.

Models for the Planet
The final day featured a stunning aerial photoshoot campaign produced by Art LOVES Earth and VRTU Studios. Over 30 of Swim Week’s top swimwear models volunteered their time to raise awareness about ocean plastics. The models were dressed in sustainable swimwear provided by Ishine Swimwear, crafted from recycled plastic bottles, and lounged on organic towels from Gilded Arrow.
The campaign culminated in an awe-inspiring art print created by Ryan Hattaway, capturing the models forming shapes and messages to highlight the urgent need for ocean conservation. The photoshoot showcased how art, fashion, and advocacy can come together to inspire action.

A Stunning S.O.S. Runway Show
The week closed with an unforgettable runway show at the Plymouth Hotel, featuring the theme S.O.S. (Save Our Seas). Models walked across the pool runway in recycled swimwear, adorned with seashells, fishnets, and nautical-inspired designs that celebrated the beauty and fragility of our oceans. With over 2,000 attendees, the event became the most talked-about show of Swim Week, earning headlines in USA Today and cementing its place as the highlight of the season.
A Call to Action
The Models Against Bottles campaign proved that fashion can be a force for good. By combining the glamour of Miami Swim Week with impactful messaging and hands-on action, Art LOVES Earth and its partners demonstrated the power of collaboration in addressing environmental challenges.
